Why Aveda

A CULTURE OF CARE

One of the questions I’m always asked is why I love Aveda so much—because I do, and always have.

Aveda was founded in 1978 on a foundation of progressive thinking about everything—especially kindness to the earth and every living being, cultural diversity, and strong ethical principles.

As a global beauty brand, Aveda has shown it’s possible to produce the highest-quality products and services while living your values. It offers unparalleled support and the highest quality education to everyone in the Aveda network, from students to business owners.

I am passionate about Aveda’s nurturing, cruelty-free, holistic products, and about introducing people of color to how well Aveda products fulfill their specific hair and skin-care needs.

As part of Aveda’s inaugural Global Texture Team, I get to pursue my dream of elevating and amplifying the beauty of textured hair worldwide. Among other educational opportunities, our team has helped expand and evolve the Textured Hair curriculum at all Aveda Institutes.

It’s a joy to work with, learn from and be inspired by my amazing colleagues on the Global Texture Team: Renee Gadar, Tracy Freeman, Austin Call and Monica Stevens.

I love Aveda because beauty is only the beginning. As its mission statement expresses:

Our mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society. At Aveda, we strive to set an example for environmental leadership and responsibility, not just in the world of beauty, but around the world.
